Venice Aesthetic – Travel Moodboard

A collage moodboard of Venice Italy. "Venice" is in white handwritten font in the top left, over a swipe of a turquoise paintbrush. Behind the "V" in Venice is a sketched graphic in a mustard colour of a gondola and pushing towards a bridge. Under the word Venice, a lacy dark grey masquerade mask. Top right is a photo of a Venice bookstore: Libreria Acqua Alta inside a postage stamp frame. Beautiful colorful books line the shelves and small tables. A green book rack is in the foreground to the left. In the background to the right, the book shop opens onto the canal (not visible.) The light from outside streams in. The doorframe is turquoise. The ceiling looks antique and patchy, and a fancy chandelier hangs from it.
Below these graphics and pictures, the centre photo across the collage is a wide shot of the main Venice canal. Colourful buildings line either side of the canal. (Most are a white or apricot shade with red roofs.) The water is a bright aqua colour. Gondolas and boats dot the canal. Wooden docks line the left side.
Bottom left photo is a round picture of a woman looking out through diamond patterned bars over the city of Venice. The sky is blue with fluffy grey and white clouds. The roofs are red. St. Mark's square is visible below. She is wearing a leather jacket and her blonde hair is tied back in a low bun.
Bottom right photo: A gondoleer pushes his boat through a narrow canal. He wears a navy and white striped sweater. In front of him, a passenger with long dark hair is posed serenely with her hands in her lap. She is wearing a bright red coat with puffed sleeves. The gondola is black with gold accents. Other gondolas are anchored to the buildings on either side of the canal. The buildings are brick, with tan, yellow, or apricot plaster and turquoise shutters. The water is a beautiful aqua colour.

Libreria Acqua Alta

A photo of a Venice bookstore: Libreria Acqua Alta (ruled the most beautful bookstore in the world) from the alley. A window with a diamond shaped grate over it, looks into the side of the bookstore. Colorful books line either side of the walls. A wooden sign with peeling turquoise paint reads "Acqua" in yellow letters. The rest is not legible. The room is open air and brightly lit. A canoe hangs on the left wall above the books. A large green plant, a green table, and two green chairs are set up along the left wall. The floor is cobblestone.

Split Colour Buildings

Two row buildings in Venice. Left side is taller with a rooftop balcony. The building is cream with warm wood windows and dark turquoise shutters. The building on the right is 4 stories, painted in a bright mustard yellow with the same colour of shutters. The trim on the windows is white. Each window has a juliette balcony. The first floor is a restaurant with tables and chairs set up in the cobbled square. Above the tables are two white awnings.
I love the contrast in Venice’s buildings
A tall Venetian home, split down the middle in colour. The left half is grey plaster with rusty spots, the right half is a fresher looking apricot colour. Both have dark turquoise shutters and doors. The fourth level has two small matching balconies. The left one has flower boxes on it. The square in front of the building is cobbled.
Another fight over who paints the duplex
An ancient looking well sits centred in front of a split-colour Venetian building. The right side is an apricot colour and the left, an aged creamy white. Both main floors have dark wood doors and plaster peeled off revealing the brick underneath. Both have dark Turquoise shutters and white window trim. Between the colours a street lamo hangs from the side of the building.

Main Canals of Venice

Major Venice canal. Colourful buildings line either side of the canal. (Most are a white or apricot shade with red roofs.) The water is a bright aqua colour. Gondolas and boats dot the canal. Wooden docks line the left side.
Another view of one of the main Venice canals. Centre left, 3 large beams form a tent shape jutting out of the water, wrapped in rusty chains (for securing boats.) Across the aqua water, the sun shines on yellow and cream buildings on the other side of the canal.
Tall Venetian houses directly across the canal. The water is beautiful and aqua. The houses are all shades of cream, yellow, and orange with red roofs. The sky is overcast, but bright.

St. Mark’s Square

St. Mark's square. View from the second story of a balcony looking towards the water. The left side of the frame is a long stretch of an ornate building with a patterned tile front and columns lining the whole first and second level. Right side of the fram is another ornate building. This one is white with only two stories but both are lined with columns. The square stretches out to the ocean where two pillars stand in front of the open water. In the distance you can see a peninsula of Venice across the wide canal.

St. Mark's square is visible below. She is wearing a leather jacket and her blonde hair is tied back in a low bun.
View from St Mark’s Campanile (bell tower)
An interior view of St. Mark's square. The square is lined on all three sides with white marble buildings with 2-4 floors of columns. A tall pillar stands in the square close to the camera. The cobbles in the square form a pattern around the middle. The square is full of scattered people, but the sun is setting and behind some dark clouds, so they appear as only silhouettes. The sun shines a bright spot into the clouds. Beyond the clouds the sky is light blue.

Narrow Back Canals

Bottom right photo: A gondoleer pushes his boat through a narrow canal. He wears a navy and white striped sweater. In front of him, a passenger with long dark hair is posed serenely with her hands in her lap. She is wearing a bright red coat with puffed sleeves. The gondola is black with gold accents. Other gondolas are anchored to the buildings on either side of the canal. The buildings are brick, with tan, yellow, or apricot plaster and turquoise shutters. The water is a beautiful aqua colour.
Bet she didn’t think a stranger would take 84 photos of her
A young girl proudly shows off her pink and gold masquerade mask by holding it out in front of her face. It has a large fuschia pink rose on the right side of it, with dark purple feathers behind it. The girl is wearing a matching two-tone fuschia winter jacket with a light pink dress poking out underneath and patterned leggings. She is leaning against a bright yellow building on the left side of the picture. Behind her is a decorative iron fence, and beyond that is a narrow canal with boats tied up along the left side. Beyond the yellow building are various other colours of row houses leading off towards a bridge. Across the canal is a white marble building with columns all along the side of it.
A narrow back canal in Venice. The water is visible through and above an iron railing on the side of a bridge. The colourful buildings stand tall on either side. Gondolas are tied up along the side. A motorized boat approaches in the distance.
Colourful buildings (mostly apricot) line a bright green-blue canal in Venice. The rain leaves ripples on the water's service. Peeking into the foreground is the decorative iron railing of a bridge.

Quiet Corners

A quiet corner in Venice. A brick building takes up the right half of the photos. There are rows of windows with dark green shutters. The second level windows have window boxes of bright green plants hanging from juliette balconies. Across the water is a similar brick building with a bridge coming off of it. A boat is tied to the bridge.
A run down building in a quiet corner of Venice. It is an ecclectic mix of rose coloured plaster, turquoise and dark green shutters and doors, exposed brick and weathered patches.
My favourite building
A quiet cobbled corned of Venice. Brick walls are on the left and in the background. A young girl wearing a pink coat and colourful leggings leans against the wall holding a masquerade mask. Her dark hair is in a ponytail. Her mouth is slightly open as she looks quizzically at a faint drawing on the wall of a narrow screaming face and tall tulip-shaped hair.
A little medium-scary street art in Venice

Narrow Side Streets

A narrow side street in Venice. A woman with a rainbow umbrella walks in front of the camera wearing a bright red coat. Tall buildings line each side of the street in a wide variety of colours and styles.
Another tourist blessing my photo
SIlhouettes of a man with a beard and a little girl standing in an alley facing the camera. The alley is only a few feet wide and brick on either side. Beyond them the alley ends in a brighter street. People are blurry as they rush past with their colourful umbrellas.
